About Us
We aim to build community to ensure our elected representatives stand up for our values and interests.
Our group hold up these as some (not all) of our guiding values:
Positivity
More than Dickson
Independence / Balanced
Listening
Effectiveness
Compassion
We live in suburbs in Dickson, including Petrie, Bridgeman Downs, Dayboro, Samford, Warner, Strathpine, Albany Creek, and Ferny Hills. We are family people, parents, grandparents. We are everyday people who want to change things for the better.
We plan to follow the rough pathway set out by Voices for Indi, Voices of Warringah, Voices of Groom and the other community independents.
Acknowledgment of Country
We honour and pay our respects to the Turrbal and Jagera peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways of the Dickson electorate.
We also acknowledge and celebrate the cultural diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who come to Dickson from the many nations across Australia to live, work or study.
We recognise the significance of our shared history, acknowledging the discriminatory and oppressive injustices of the past.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we are committed to further strengthening the relationships between First Nations and non-First Nations people, aiming for a greater understanding and awareness of the continued connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to land, sea and community.
